As Associate Director-General, you will play a pivotal leadership role within the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), shaping the delivery of high-impact road infrastructure outcomes across Queensland. You will lead with clarity and purpose, overseeing complex transport challenges, ensuring successful delivery of government election commitments, and fostering trusted relationships with key stakeholders, including local governments, business and industry.
This is a critical executive position requiring strategic insight, exceptional judgement, and deep experience navigating government systems and engaging in complex problem solving. Solutions will require a focus on balancing risk and opportunity to support economic outcomes in Queensland, gaining input from a range of disciplines including delivery, engineering, technical, governance, legal, financial and commercial to achieve balanced outcomes for the community.
• Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership across a broad and complex portfolio, including the design and delivery of major road infrastructure programs and transport initiatives.
• Program Management and Oversight: Oversee the implementation and reporting of key government priorities and election commitments within the transport sector, managing the implementation of government decisions in a contested stakeholder environment.
• Complex Problem Solving: Anticipate and resolve complex, high-risk problems, using sophisticated analysis, innovative thinking, and strong governance frameworks, balancing risk and opportunity, to provide evidence-based advice to the Director-General, Minister, and executives on critical issues, risks, and opportunities across the portfolio.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage and collaborate effectively internally and externally, with local government, business and industry, regional partners, and community stakeholders to align infrastructure delivery with public need and policy objectives.
• Workforce and Capability: Champion a high-performance, inclusive culture and support workforce capability across the department
