Ranger in Charge
Southern Parks & Forests Regional Operations; Management & Operations; Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services & Partnerships; Roma
Rangers work in partnership with local communities & other stakeholders to contribute to the land management, recreational & conservation outcomes across the protected areas. The Roma Remote work unit is responsible for managing several national parks & state forests with a specific focus on developing &
implementing weed & pest management control programs, asset management which includes maintenance of roads, firebreaks, buildings & visitor infrastructure.
This role is centered on supervising & leading a small team of rangers undertaking operational service delivery. Experience in staff supervision, leadership, bushfire response, planned burn operations, NRM & working in remote locations would be advantageous. The Ideal Candidate:
· Displays a keen interest in conservation and land management.
· Participates in prescribed burning, fuel reduction and bushfires.
· Ability to lead and manage a team to deliver work plans, initiatives and outcomes.
· Leads the development of annual work programs for maintenance of roads and firebreaks.
· Establishes and maintains productive relationships with stakeholders including neighboring landholders, other government departments, industry groups, recreational user groups and traditional owners.
· Exhibits strong organisational skills and the capacity to handle multiple tasks with precision.
· Ability to support and share skills with a diverse group of people.
