QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing workplace health and safety (WHS) advice, service and assistance to the department, including a diverse range of WHS activities and technical matter relating to building, construction and maintenance industry.
Duties and skills involved:
- Conducting site WHS&E audits and inspections to ensure compliance for both QBuild and contractor delivered work on construction sites in various mediums including small, medium and large scale projects.
- Willing to travel to project site locations to conduct WHS&E duties. Travel may include driving to remote and very remote locations.
- Providing WHS&E advice and guidance to department operational, supervisory and management staff regarding QBuild Safety Management System (SMS) processes and requirements, and legislative compliance.
- Assisting with the development and delivery of information sessions educating on the relevant WHS&E information and activities to department staff. This may include but is not limited to training of internal safety management systems, WHS&E inductions and relevant WHS&E internal training modules.
- Assisting with reporting and investigating QBuild WHS&E incidents and contractor notifiable incidents.
- Assisting with the worker rehabilitation and return to work programs, under the guidance of the RRTW Advisor or WHS Manager.
- Assisting with coordinating with the emergency planning and response activities for QBuild offices and depots.
- Assisting with the development, review and implementation of SWMSs, risk assessments and WHS Management plans.
- Assisting with regular WHS&E reporting for regions and business.
- Assisting with the delivery of a range of health and safety programs, to enable a service that is responsive to the needs of the stakeholders.
