Senior Inspector (Roadworks)

This is your opportunity to work in the thriving regional centre of Bundaberg and the greater Wide Bay Burnett district. In the role of Senior Inspector (Roadworks), you will inspect routine, programmed, rehabilitation, line marking and reactive maintenance contracts, third party road corridor works such as public utility plant and developer works, critical incidents and declared disasters. You will ensure delivery of high standards of quality, economy, governance and safety are achieved.

You will manage, the monitoring, auditing, evaluating and reporting on all elements of roadworks contracts and activities to ensure compliance with contract condition, standards, specifications and agreed levels of service.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Inspect the delivery of various contracts including, quality, environment, safety, traffic management, reviewing project priorities, and providing regular advice to the Administrator on contractor performance.
• Conduct and/or manage audits of contractor's works, processes and quality records to ensure compliance with specifications and contract conditions, including specialised inspections, such as precast prestressed components, concrete and asphalt production.
• Assist with assessment, management and inspection of line marking. Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, procedures and line marking designs.
• Maintain and/or manage the collection of detailed records (diaries, test results, photos) and reports at a standard suitable for presentation in a legal environment.
• Guide, mentor, coach and train staff in all aspects of roadworks, contract administration and risk management principles processes relating to project safety, traffic management, quality and environmental management.
• Carry out needs surveys to identify infrastructure maintenance requirements and priority activities, including roadside hazard identification audits and make recommendations for remedial priorities.
• Use project management techniques and quality assurance systems, including the development and implementation of risk management and surveillance plans.
• Investigate complaints and requests for action from the public in relation to road network operations. Liaise and communicate with the community, local authorities, utilities, local Government and developers on all aspects of operations in the delivery of transport infrastructure.
• Inspect and report on third party network activities such as Public Utility Plant and developer works.
• Provide advice on matters relating to road construction and maintenance practices and standards.
• Provide operational on the ground support during critical incidents and disaster situations.
This role reports to the Principal Engineer (Maintenance).

Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• A ‘C' class driver's licence.

Highly Desirable:
• Relevant industry or roads infrastructure experience or experience in the construction and maintenance of bridges and large drainage structures would be highly regarded.
• The following qualifications would be highly regarded -
o Certificate III in Civil Construction and Maintenance.
o Certificate IV in Civil Construction.
o Certificate IV in Project Management Practice.
o Certificate IV in workplace Health & Safety.

The Wide Bay Burnett starts around an hour's drive north of Brisbane. The district covers an area of about 48,599 km2, or around 2.8% of Queensland. Townships within the district include Kalpowar, Nanango, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Gympie and Eidsvold. The district's population is about 286,705 or around 6.2% of Queensland's population.
