The Department of Housing and Public Works is dedicated to creating a brighter future for Queenslanders by delivering the homes, infrastructure and services that matter. To support this vision and the delivery of significant social and community house infrastructure development, the Executive Director, Strategic Precincts and Projects will oversee the delivery of large-scale social and community housing projects, precinct wide development and renewal, and complex acquisitions.

This role will play a pivotal part in delivering transformative housing initiatives across Queensland, including the Southport Supportive Housing Project and major precinct renewal programs revitalising ageing public housing estates. Reporting to the General Manager, Housing Development, you will help advance the State’s social and community housing priorities through strong collaboration

The Executive Director, Strategic Precincts and Projects will:

  • Lead the design and delivery of major social housing and precinct renewal programs, ensuring projects meet time, cost, quality and scope objectives while driving positive economic and social outcomes.
  • Provide high-level strategic, financial and policy advice to senior executives and government stakeholders on risks, opportunities and issues impacting departmental and whole-of-government outcomes.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency in delivering complex capital projects and programs aligned with government priorities through cross-agency and cross-sector collaboration.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships across government, industry and community sectors to enable successful project outcomes that support economic growth, job creation and community infrastructure development.
  • Foster a high-performing, accountable and inclusive workforce, supporting staff wellbeing, professional development and effective resource management across hybrid teams.
  • Oversee performance, governance and risk management frameworks to ensure financial sustainability, project accountability and continuous improvement in service delivery.

About You
We are seeking an accomplished executive with extensive experience leading large scale capital works or infrastructure programs that deliver meaningful social and economic outcomes. With a strong understanding of the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and business case development through to procurement, delivery, and operational commencement, you will bring the expertise and strategic vision needed to oversee complex, precinct-wide projects across Queensland.

As a trusted leader, you will have a proven track record providing specialist advice and building productive relationships across government, industry and community sectors. You will have demonstrated ability to collaborate with senior executives, developers, community housing providers, and other key stakeholders to enable the successful delivery of transformative housing and precinct renewal initiatives that align with government priorities.

You will demonstrate exceptional leadership capability within large and complex organisations, grounded in integrity, accountability and performance excellence. Known for your ethical decision-making, strategic agility and commitment to continuous improvement, you will foster high-performing teams and navigate complexity with sound judgement and strong communication skills. Your proven experience in delivering housing or infrastructure programs, managing diverse stakeholder relationships, and driving strategic outcomes across your portfolio will be key to your success in this role.
