Lead a passionate team as Ranger in Charge (Cairns South), based at the QPWS&P Tingira Street base in Portsmith. You’ll supervise three rangers, providing guidance, mentoring, and hands-on leadership to protect and manage Queensland’s stunning parks and reserves. Reporting to the Senior Ranger of the Cairns Management Unit, you’ll tackle diverse challenges, from pest and fire management to visitor facilities and conservation.

Position Title: Ranger in Charge (Cairns South)
Location: QPWS&P base, Tingira Street, Portsmith, Cairns
Are you ready to lead a team and make a real impact in some of Queensland's most breathtaking natural landscapes? As Ranger in Charge (Cairns South), you'll supervise and inspire a team of three rangers, guiding them to protect and manage our stunning parks and reserves. Reporting to the Senior Ranger of the Cairns Management Unit, you'll be at the forefront of conservation, recreation, and land management in the tropics.

What You'll Do:
• Lead and motivate your team to deliver on key conservation and operational goals.
• Mentor and support your rangers, helping them grow and succeed.
• Get hands-on with fieldwork, from pest and fire management to maintaining visitor facilities and park infrastructure.
• Work closely with local communities and stakeholders to achieve big-picture outcomes.
• Protect Queensland's natural treasures while ensuring they remain accessible and valued by all.

What You'll Need:
• A passion for the outdoors and a love of working in nature.

• Physical fitness to handle the demands of the role, including working in remote areas with limited vehicle access.
• A willingness to take on challenges like tropical heat, UV exposure, fire and smoke, chemicals, and long hours (including weekends and nights).

4. Visitor Management: Create unforgettable experiences for park visitors while ensuring their safety.
5. Assets and Safety: Inspect and maintain assets to keep everything running smoothly.
