Are you ready to take the lead in shaping safe, responsible, and inclusive liquor and gambling environments across Queensland? The Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation (OLGR) is seeking motivated Principal Compliance Officers to join our dynamic team.

OLGR is seeking two permanent and one temporary Principal Compliance Officer (until 30 November 2026 with the possibility of extension) to lead compliance teams in OLGR's regional offices across the state.

As a Principal Compliance Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with liquor and gambling legislation while contributing to harm minimisation and community confidence. From conducting investigations, inspections and audits to engaging with stakeholders and preparing high-level reports, these roles combine field and office work and offer variety, challenge, and the opportunity to make a real impact.

Two permanent and one temporary Principal Compliance Officer positions are available. One permanent position is responsible for supervising compliance teams in OLGR's Cairns and Townsville offices and the position could be located in either Cairns or Townsville. The other permanent position will be responsible for supervising compliance teams in OLGR's Mackay and Rockhampton offices, and the position could be located in either of these offices.

The temporary position is available until 30 November 2026 (with the possibility of extension) and is responsible for supervising compliance teams in OLGR's Maroochydore, Hervey Bay and Toowoomba offices. This temporary position could be located in Maroochydore, Hervey Bay or Toowoomba offices.

The roles focus on supervising compliance teams in ensuring compliance with liquor and gambling legislation by engaging with stakeholders, conducting investigations and inspections, and supporting harm minimisation strategies. As a Principal Compliance Officer, you will supervise compliance teams (up to 10 direct reports) responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs across Queensland. You will provide advice, identify trends, and develop innovative enforcement strategies to ensure sustainable compliance.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Coordinate and assist in a range of liquor and gambling compliance interventions, including inspections, audits, investigations, and other initiatives administered by OLGR.
• Implement, monitor and support the implementation of harm minimisation strategies within the liquor and gambling industries.
• Lead and supervise a team of compliance officers by managing workload allocation, tracking performance, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
• Provide advice and guidance to team members on compliance issues and ensuring that operations are aligned with operational standards.
• Engage with industry stakeholders, community groups, and other relevant parties to provide advice, guidance, and education on liquor and gambling regulations.
• Review files and conduct quality assurance assessments to ensure compliance functions are carried out to a high standard.
• Prepare written correspondence including briefing notes, ministerial correspondence and reports on outcomes of compliance activities.

About you

We're seeking someone with:

• Strong leadership skills and the ability to supervise and mentor a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
• A working knowledge (or ability to quickly acquire) of liquor and gambling legislation.
• Proven ability to make sound decisions, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
• A current "C" class driver's licence and a willingness to travel across Queensland, including rural and remote areas.
