This permanent, full-time role, based in Brisbane, offers a unique opportunity to oversee rail portfolio management activities across Southeast Queensland and contribute to the delivery of a single integrated transport network.

The Director will oversee the sequencing, optimisation, and prioritisation, as well as the commissioning of the various rail infrastructure projects. The role will require identifying, analysing, assessing, and driving change across projects, programs, and initiatives that impact the SEQ rail network.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Manage a team of technical experts to ensure the successful delivery and governance of significant rail infrastructure projects within the portfolio by proactively ensuring the sustainability of the rail network during the upcoming period of significant capital investment within SEQ.
• In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of the rail portfolio, including pressure testing program/project staging plans and commissioning strategies.
• Identify, understand, monitor, and assess the key interface and integration issues associated with major rail projects, various programs, and initiatives.
• Use decision support making frameworks and tools to ensure best for portfolio outcomes are achieved by balancing customer needs, program/projects and operations.
• Through the use of data and reporting, proactively understand key threshold levels of critical resources in order to reprioritise and/or maximise the network during disruptions.
• Provide specialist expertise and professional advice to the Executive Director (Rail Portfolio Management Office) on all relevant aspects of the rail portfolio, by preparing
comprehensive options papers, information briefs and artefacts to support decisionmaking and ensure the successful transition, integration, and implementation of major rail projects.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.

Requirements of the role:
• Experience in delivering major rail projects, including scheduling, track possession, network disruption planning, and the management of rail programs within a large complex organisation.
• Qualifications in one or more of the following: Transport Planning, Engineering, Construction, Program Management, Business or Public Sector Administration.
• Experience in the infrastructure industry is necessary for success in this role, including all aspects of the business of commercial infrastructure delivery and asset management.
• A strong understanding of the rail landscape in Queensland would be highly regarded.
