In this role, you will lead a small team and be responsible for providing expert guidance in complex archival appraisal matters.
As the Principal Appraisal Archivist, you will:
- Provide expert subject matter guidance and advice to the State Archivist and QSA on the appraisal, retention and disposal of public records, including guidance and advice about regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership and high-level advice to public authorities on complex, high-risk appraisal, retention and disposal issues.
- Lead, implement and contribute to key activities and projects with stakeholders about the appraisal, retention and disposal of public records under the Public Records Act 2023.
- Research, analyse and prepare written reports, discussion papers, briefing notes and other documents on complex topics including appraisal, retention and disposal of public records.
- Develop innovative approaches to help enhance the processes for preparing disposal authorisations and facilitating the disposal of public records by public authorities.
- Lead a high-performing team and prioritise work activities and resources to ensure quality programs of work are delivered.
- Build and maintain close relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including representing QSA in external meetings and delivering presentations.
- Model the behaviours expected of a leader at QSA including fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, promoting an environment of strong customer service, collaboration and teamwork.
- Undertake any other duties as directed by the Manager, Strategic Policy and the Director, PAGR.
