Rapid Response is a specialist youth team that is a highly mobile and highly agile specialist unit to provide support where it is needed most, in Queensland, to focus on high-risk young offenders.

The role of the Manager is to lead and manage the Rapid Response Team. The manager works closely with Youth Justice service centres and Detention Centres to lead a team to support regional delivery of high-quality youth justice services to clients and communities. This is facilitated through the implementation of quality case management systems/practices/standards/change orientated programs and service delivery frameworks, the delivery of restorative justice processes where required, the establishment of enduring partnerships with youth, families, Queensland Police Service, court, the community, the public and non government sectors.

As Manager, Rapid Response, you will specifically:

• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Manage staff, physical and financial resources in accordance with relevant legislative provisions, strategic priorities, statutory delegations, departmental policies, procedures and contemporary best practice.
• Allocate, prioritise and perform tasks in accordance with departmental procedures and statutory, financial and administrative delegations.
• Provide leadership and management in the delivery of high-quality youth justice services including the development of appropriate service responses to meet the identified needs of clients including young people, families, the community and the public and non-government sectors.
• Lead and contribute to strategic and operational planning, reviews, implementation, evaluation and key decision-making.
• Actively participate in and, where appropriate, lead local area forums with government and non-government stakeholders, promoting a positive and accountable public image and the development of productive partnerships to support service delivery outcomes.
• Develop enduring service delivery partnerships to enhance cross-sectoral participation, training and development, and the delivery and co-ordination of local youth justice services.
• Foster a culture and philosophy of frontline service delivery, cooperation, teamwork, high quality people management, commitment to excellence, evidencebased service delivery and a professional ethic which ensures Youth Justice Service Centres continues to meet the department's priorities.
• Provide proactive high-level support, advice and information to regional management teams in relation to youth justice service outcomes, development of service delivery and improvement strategies, staff training and support strategies and performance agreements.
• Provide ongoing recruitment, selection, professional development and culturally appropriate supervision and leadership to team staff.
• Lead engagement with people from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds as well as demonstrating an appreciation of cultural protocols and an awareness of the impacts of historical policies and practices to ensure culturally appropriate services.
