As a Science Technician in the Molecular Diagnostics section, you will ensure timely, high-quality diagnostic outcomes by performing molecular testing, contributing to assay development and validation, and ensuring ISO 17025 requirements are met.
You will complete reagent preparation, nucleic acid extraction and real-time PCR along with analysis and reporting of results. Your efforts will ensure the section is able to provide high-throughput, accurate veterinary diagnostic testing for the Department.
This includes:
• Applying molecular biology techniques to perform diagnostic procedures ensuring timely and accurate results, including for exotic and zoonotic pathogens.
• Contributing to the development, validation and implementation of new and improved diagnostic methods.
• Complete testing and laboratory tasks under ISO 17025 conditions to meet requirements for NATA accreditation, including completion of equipment checks, temperature monitoring, proficiency testing etc.
