Work Program Coordinator
Numinbah Correctional Centre; Custodial Operations; Numinbah Valley
The Southern Region Command, Custodial Operations Division, is responsible for the delivery of custodial services across Queensland. People in custody are supervised in either high or low security correctional centres. High security centres provide for the management of adult prisoners held in secure custody correctional centres across Queensland.
In this role you will oversee the management, planning, organisation, supervision and monitoring of staff and offender services, on behalf of the General Manager. The Work Program Coordinator is also responsible to the centre General Manager for the maintenance of a good working relationship with local communities as well as a safe and positive working environment.

The primary accountabilities of the Work Program Coordinator include:
- Implement rosters that meet business requirements including camp rotation, leave management and training.
- Maintain working knowledge of the Corrective Services Award and determination.
- Identify and coordinate staff training and staff development activities.
- Assist management in the monitoring and assessment of field staff, to facilitate the completion of annual performance appraisals and the identification of required training.
- Help develop a budget for the function
- Monitor the financial expenditure for the function.
- Develop submissions and manage the purchase/implementation of minor works and equipment.
- Co-ordinate camp rotations to ensure the maximum numbers of offenders are maintained in the remote communities
- Contribute to positive outcomes for communities through the identification, planning, completion and review of projects.
- Maintain adequate offender numbers on the program to maintain maximum camp functions.
- Participate on offender case management reviews.
- Plan and coordinate case management reviews of offenders.
- Undertake consultation with relevant specialists within the Agency and other government agencies to address offender needs.
- Participate in a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality offender case management.
- Ensure that case management practices and the monitoring of offenders meet the requirements of ensuring community safety.
- Carry out the duties of Health and Safety Officer for the Work Program, as prescribed by relevant legislation and Agency policies.
- Ensure that the legislative requirements of the Workplace Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
- Identify and respond to security and emergency incidents and implement appropriate risk management strategies.
- Assist in the establishment of productive relationships with Community Advisory Committees and communities that host Work Camps.
- Participate in regular visits to the communities that host Work Camps.
- Regular teleconferences with Community Advisory Committees.
- Identification of community projects for approval.
- Effectively represent the Agency as the interface with key stakeholders, particularly the Community Advisory Committees and other community representatives.
The role description provides the minimum requirements for the role. The incumbent may be required to undertake other duties as required outside of these primary accountabilities.
