QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing exceptional project management, ensuring client satisfaction, and maximising project profitability.
Please note: Travel may be an integral activity for this (or as negotiated). The majority of this will be road travel, and there may also be occasions where you will be required to travel by (light) aircraft.
Duties and skills involved:
- Lead end-to-end project delivery by optimising workforce capabilities, enhancing subcontractor performance, and allocating critical resources such as equipment, depots, and fleet assets.
- Implement robust work order systems to monitor performance, uphold service excellence, and ensure alignment with industry standards, cost controls, and timeframes.
- Maximise regional resource efficiency across construction, maintenance, and infrastructure upgrades while ensuring full compliance with legislative, policy, and regulatory frameworks.
- Provide high-level direction across infrastructure projects to drive operational excellence and long-term asset resilience.
- Oversee major and complex contracts with rigorous supervision and risk mitigation to ensure seamless execution of construction and engineering deliverables.
- Strengthen client relationships through strategic communication, negotiation, and program alignment to consistently exceed expectations.
- Champion a culture of safety, compliance, and equity by integrating best-practice HR strategies and workplace health and safety principles.
- Drive business development by identifying trends in asset management, promoting QBuild's capabilities, and expanding service offerings.
- Build and lead high-performing teams through continuous performance optimisation, accountability, and a culture of professional excellence
Preferred skills and experience:
- Thorough working knowledge of building construction and maintenance legislative and regulatory requirements, principles and practices and contract procedures.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Current Workplace Health and Safety General Safety Induction card.
