The Principal Privacy Officer supports the Privacy Contact Officer to deliver key privacy policy, compliance and awareness services to the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC) and the Office of the Premier and supports the department and the Office of the Premier in meeting their privacy obligations under the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act).
You will use your policy experience with privacy matters and comprehensive knowledge of the IP Act to provide high-level policy advice, maintain and review departmental and ministerial privacy policies, respond to information privacy enquiries, and manage privacy complaints and reported breaches under the IP Act.

About us
Governance and Integrity provides policy and operational advice and support to the Premier, Director-General, and where relevant, all government departments. These responsibilities include administering the department's responsibilities under the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act).
How you'll contribute
In this varied and intellectually stimulating role, you'll make your mark by:
• providing high-level advice and recommendations on privacy matters for the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and the Office of the Premier, including issues arising from the commencement of Information Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2023 (IPOLA)
• maintaining and undertaking regular reviews of departmental and ministerial nprivacy policies
• responding to information privacy enquiries, managing privacy complaints and reported breaches under the IP Act, ensuring strategic outcomes that balance compliance with the needs of internal and external clients
• working collaboratively with business groups to conduct Privacy Impact Assessments, identify and address privacy risk and mitigation strategies, and make recommendations.
What you'll bring to the role
We are looking for a privacy officer who has a comprehensive knowledge of the provisions of the IP Act, including the changes introduced by IPOLA, and is experienced in responding to information privacy enquiries, managing privacy complaints and reported breaches under the IP Act.
You'll draw on your prior experience developing and implementing policy to maintain and undertake regular review of departmental and ministerial privacy policies.
