About the role
As the Principal Program Officer, you will
• Lead a team to manage, monitor and review projects, programs and systems which directly support the implementation of government priorities, foster collaboration with industry and community stakeholders, and focus on training outcomes and pathways directly linked to employment.
• Develop, implement, and monitor a range of operational policies and practices which facilitate and support best practice across the operations of the department, including program delivery, stakeholder engagement and events.
• Carry out performance reporting and analysis, including the use of contemporary recording and reporting frameworks to inform strategic decision making, resource management and local planning processes.
• Provide supervision and leadership through mentoring and coaching team members, supporting their professional development and modelling professionalism, integrity, and leading by example.
• Represent the department at forums, working parties and committees, while building and maintaining strong networks and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Prepare reports, briefing papers, letters, speeches, and promotional materials while maintaining accurate and up to date stakeholder and distribution databases.
What we are looking for
The position requires an applicant who has:
• Demonstrated high level program and project management with sound knowledge of the vocational education and training (VET) sector in Queensland.
• Strong conceptual, analytical, research skills supported by experience in analysing data and trends, preparing and presenting findings and contributing to department objectives.
• Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, managers and staff as evidenced by the achievement of business objectives and performance targets.
• Well-developed planning and organisation skills with the ability to meet expectations and deadlines, delivering accurate results within agreed time frames and accountability frameworks.
• Highly developed communication skills including strong consultation and negotiation abilities and provide clear, independent written and verbal advice to senior officers on a range of issues.
