In the role of Principal Advisor (Local Government Partnerships), you will be part of a team dedicated to strengthening TMR's partnership with Queensland's local governments. As the custodians of the Roads and Transport Alliance between TMR and councils, our work focusses on building and maintaining stakeholder relationships, developing robust policy solutions, and governing funding programs including the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme and Country Roads Connect Program. You will have the opportunity to travel throughout Queensland, engaging directly with local government partners and communities to deliver outcomes that matter. We are a small and supportive team that is passionate about supporting local governments to deliver outcomes for Queensland communities. This role undertakes regular travel within Queensland which includes overnight stays.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Lead Policy Innovation: Develop meaningful strategic policies and solve complex, important issues for Queensland.
• Prepare High-Impact Communications: Prepare high quality written materials such as ministerial correspondence, briefing notes, and policy papers, on critical transport issues, ensuring our leaders have the insights they need.
• Forge Strong Partnerships: Build and maintain influential relationships with local governments, peak bodies, departmental officers and senior executives to represent TMR at key meetings, provide guidance, resolve issues to shape the future of our roads and transport network.
• Be a Catalyst for Improvement: Identify and champion continuous improvement opportunities across policies, processes, and projects to enhance the team's impact and program outcomes.

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
• Experience developing robust policy solutions and addressing complex issues through analytical thinking and proactive problem-solving.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, tailoring the approach to suit different audiences.
• Ability to manage time and organise work effectively, adapting to changing priorities to ensure quality results.
• Proven experience developing and maintaining strong, influential relationships with stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
• A commitment to engaging with communities across Queensland, regularly travelling to connect with partners and deliver outcomes.
