The Strategy and Skills Performance division defines the organisation's vision, sets strategic direction, and leads skills initiatives using evidence-based research and analytics. By partnering with stakeholders and managing VET delivery, the division drives skills outcomes for students, employers, and industry, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives. The VET Programs and Investment team manages over $1.5B in annual skills investment, developing responsive programs and policies, engaging Skills Assure Suppliers, overseeing the VET market, and delivering whole of-government solutions to meet current and future workforce needs.
About the role
As the Senior Program Officer, you will
- Interrogate, extract and organise data from departmental data from departmental databases to support the performance monitoring, statistical analysis and reporting functions of Skills Investment.
- Provide policy and program advice to suppliers and staff and support senior management on sensitive or complex matters involving contracted providers and stakeholders.
- Manage the development, coordination and evaluation of programs that support the achievement of Skills Investments' goals and objectives.
- Communicate and liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding new and existing contractual or program requirements and oversee variations to ensure effective results.
- Research and prepare executive or ministerial correspondence and briefing papers on training related issues, including program management.
- Develop innovative solutions and operational policies to ensure high performance standards and up to date program management practices.
What we are looking for
The position requires an applicant who can:
- Demonstrate proven experience in innovative reporting, data analysis and performance monitoring to identify trends, insights and opportunities for improvement.
- Skilled in working with databases, developing and implementing performance monitoring frameworks, including KPIs, benchmarks, and metrics.
- Demonstrate proven ability to provide expert advice and contribute to policy analysis, program development, implementation and review within the VET system. Refer to the Role Description for a full list of responsibilities and what we are looking for.
