As our Principal Planning Officer, Planning and Technical Services, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational planning, leadership and management
of a team to deliver planning outcomes to manage State-owned forest products (under the provisions of the Forestry Act 1959)
This role will contribute to the development of the business through planning efficiencies to grow capability to deliver an effective timber sales program and satisfy all relevant natural resource management, environmental, cultural heritage, land management, planning and other legislative and policy requirements.

As our Principal Planning Officer, Planning and Technical Services, you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational planning advice to program leaders on forestry matters and the analysis and development of recommendations for solving complex forestry planning matters.
The role will provide timely comment on policy and estate management issues as necessary and prepare and review departmental policy papers, submissions, reports and briefing notes.
You will be responsible for the development of collaborative and productive working relationships with stakeholders and lead and manage individual contributors and projects to deliver timely outcomes, including resources, budgets and contracts. The successful applicant will assist in managing risks associated with the harvesting and marketing of native timber and forest products, including forest protection and provide timely comment on policy and estate management issues as necessary. You will provide training and apply change management principles for the successful adoption of new systems, policies and procedures and direct and monitor the effective, cost-efficient implementation of planning programs.
The role will contribute to the monitoring and audit function for forest harvesting operations and provide analyses of spatial information to enhance operations and business objectives.
