As the Principal Mediation and Conciliation Officer, you will:
- Provide leadership and promote excellence in the delivery of mediation and conciliation services which supports effective case management and dispute resolution of complex disputes (including building and construction related disputes).
- Promote and ensure exemplary practice relating to all aspects of mediation and conciliation service delivery, including provision of exemplary case management and customer service.
- Cultivate positive workplace relationships and contribute to continual improvement of policies, procedures and systems to enhance the Mediation and Conciliation Unit's dispute resolution services and achieve business outcomes.
- Lead and contribute to initiatives which promote education, consultation and engagement with key Stakeholder and the public about QBCC's mediation and conciliation services.
- Provide leadership and peer support, coaching, training and practice supervision that contribute to QBCC's Mediation and Conciliation Unit's capability, the professional development of staff and maintenance of service standards.
Candidate Attributes
- Advanced dispute resolution skills with an ability to analyse, engage, develop and implement appropriate dispute resolution, case management and problem solving responses to complex disputes.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve dispute resolution outcomes maintaining exemplary professional practice standards of integrity, accountability, impartiality, confidentiality and ethical practice
- High level consultative, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to consult and communicate on complex and sensitive issues with a wide range of internal and external stakeholder.
- Demonstrated ability (or demonstrated ability to develop this capability) in interpreting, applying and communicating the requirements of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991, Queensland Building and Construction Commission Regulation 2018, Insurance Policy Conditions, Building Act 1975, National Construction Code, Australian Standards and other legislation and policies.
- Demonstrated ability to give and receive feedback and promote a culture of reflective practice, peer support, team work, collaboration, and continual improvement.
