QBuild is seeking a Business Manager responsible for supporting operational staff in meeting financial objectives. The role includes analysing end-of-month results, preparing and managing budgets, generating financial reports, and ensuring accurate accruals and journals in line with Corporate Finance requirements. You will lead and manage administrative and financial support staff, uphold compliance with policies and government legislation, support disaster management financial arrangements, and contribute to strategic planning and executive reporting, including Ministerial and RTI briefings.
What you will be doing
- Analyse end of month results, to provide relevant information for Regional and Executive Directors, to determine accruals and journals required for end of month and financial year processes as determined by Corporate Finance
- Assist with the annual budget preparation for the stream/s or region including liaising with Corporate Finance and provide updated forecasts; accruals, journals and coordinate end of month and financial year processes as determined by Corporate Finance
- Prepare accurate and detailed financial data and reports, including analysis of monthly variances to budget / forecasts and key performance indicators.
- Effectively manage administrative and financial support staff including allocation of duties to ensure adequate administration support for the Region. Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
- Manage the development and implementation of work procedures, protocols and instructions and arrange training as
- Maintain a sound knowledge of financial and administrative standards, policies and procedures. Ensure QBuild' s compliance and accountability in relation to relevant government legislative and procedural requirements, including Freedom of Information requests.
- Contribute to operational and strategic planning, client reporting, and provide input to Ministerial briefings, estimates briefings, RTI requests and other requests from the Deputy Director General's office or the Director, Business Operations Support as required
- Supporting and monitoring disaster management financial arrangements where required.
- Effectively undertake financial tasks but not limited to; analysis, profitability adjustments, accruals, journals and - end of month and financial year processes.
- Being a champion of change and ensure effective working relationships through continuous development and encouragement of individuals and teams
- Work effectively and professionally to support the Business Support Operations leadership team and the local QBuild leadership team.
About you
To be considered for this role, you will ideally bring:
- An accounting background is advantageous
- Demonstrated proficiency within Microsoft suite, particularly intermediate to advanced Excel skills is highly regarded.
- Developed leadership skills in managing administrative and financial support staff
