Your contribution
This role will be responsible for analysing, evaluating and resolving complex and sensitive environmental and heritage issues. The role is particularly focused on administrative decision making for regulatory actions under administered legislation including for example the Environmental Protection Act 1994, Planning Act 2016, Coastal Protection and Management Act 1995, Queensland Heritage Act 1992 and the Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011.
Managers (Compliance) are primarily responsible for ensuring consistent compliance decision making and advocating for compliance improvements in local governments and a range of industries across the state, providing guidance and advice on compliance activities, considering recommendations and making decisions on compliance enforcement.

Your role
The Manager (Compliance), (A08) is a role in which you will:
- Ensure consistency in compliance decision making and advocating for compliance improvements in local governments and a range of industries across the state.
- Provide guidance and advice on compliance activities and environmental risks to local governments and key industry stakeholders and departmental management.
- Consider recommendations and make decisions on compliance enforcement and leading the development of strategies to address risk management and complex environmental issues.
- Contribute to industry engagement activities related to local governments and key industry stakeholders.
- Manage work relationships within the team to ensure a cooperative and healthy work environment.
- Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.

This position requires:
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members, senior management, departmental business units, industry stakeholders and other relevant entities.
- Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience in making administrative decisions on complex and/or controversial matters relating to compliance.
- Proven project management skills and well-developed organisational skills with an ability to meet deadlines and achieve results.
- Proven high level communication and interpersonal skills including the possession of high-quality written skills and a capacity to advise, negotiate and consult on complex issues; and
- Contribution to workplace equity and diversity that enriches our culture of safety, innovation, respect and inclusion.
