The Role:
This position is part of the Water Projects and Unallocated Water team within North Region. The position will lead, manage and support teams to deliver water services functions of identified priority projects and services that contribute to achieving sustainable management and use of the state's water resources consistent with Departmental frameworks, policies and priorities in partnership with stakeholders. This role will focus on the provision of advice to clients, staff and key stakeholders relating to water products including unallocated water reserved within Water Plans, dealings with water scheme owners and proposed water supply infrastructure. Knowledge on legislative requirements under the Water Act 2000 including planning frameworks will assist in high-level consultation with mining and large industrial proponents, local and state government agencies and key stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities:
• Provide leadership and management of regional teams to ensure their ongoing effective service delivery of water services functions.
• Provide expert and authoritative policy advice relating to management matters for the State's water resources, in particular on water projects and water management matters, including the preparation of submissions, briefs and correspondence to meet the requirements of Minister's office.
• Represent the department and undertake consultation with departmental clients, all levels of government, and other organisations.
• Develop and manage budgets, business plans and workforce capability plans necessary to the achievement of business outcomes.
• Proven ability to rapidly adapt to change and refocus direction on specific key departmental priorities in accordance to departmental deliverables.
• Undertake high-level project management and client management to manage expectations in an environment of competing demands and limited resources.
• Resolve complex technical issues to find solutions for clients supported by evidence and sound decision making.
About You:
• There are no mandatory requirements for this role however a degree in Engineering, Water Resource Management, Applied Science or agreed equivalent would be highly regarded.
• Driving Government vehicles to conduct the business of the department will be required.
• Travel away from the centre may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods.
