As a Policy Officer, you will assist with the identification, development and implementation of integrated policies, legislation and programs.
You will partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop best practice, strategic policy advice to inform decision-making across a range of policy areas, from transport and infrastructure to education and sport. As part of a central agency, you will provide policy advice to the Premier and Cabinet.
You will be part of a small, dynamic team that provides leadership on policy issues across the Queensland Government, contributes to innovative policy development to deliver the government's priorities, supports the development of longer-term policy directions and provides strategic advice and policy.
In this role you will get the opportunity to:
• Assist in identifying, developing and analysing complex policy options and advice on major economic policy issues
• Provide input to the monitoring and evaluation of policy development activities
• Manage requests for policy information, including the preparation of responses
• Prepare or contribute to the preparation of timely and well researched submissions, and on complex policy issues, including Cabinet submissions
• Liaise with other areas of the division, government departments, and non government organisations on relevant policy issues
• Assist senior officers with the preparations for inter-departmental meetings, in conjunction with senior officers and represent the department at meetings as required.
To be successful in this role you will have:
• Candidates should demonstrate experience in managing complex issues in a
dynamic environment, taking responsibility for discrete areas of work, and
collaborating as part of a larger team to deliver strategic priorities.
• Good knowledge of Cabinet processes and decision making and possession of relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded.
