The role of the Senior Service Support Officer is to provide high quality services to young people and families, to divert high risk young people who are at risk of entering the youth justice system.

The Senior Service Support Officer will provide early intervention and case management to young people and families in collaboration with key government partners within the group and non-government agencies in the community.

Mandatory requirements:

• Drivers' license: it is a mandatory requirement for the occupant of this position to hold an unrestricted “C” Class driver's licence. Officers are required to drive government vehicles as a part of their day-to-day work.
• This role is designated as Regulated employment as the position provides support services to children and young people and therefore will require a valid Blue Card to be linked with the organisation prior to starting. Please refer to the Blue Card Services website (http://www.bluecard.qld.gov.au/) for further information.
• Additional pre-employment screening for this role includes serious disciplinary history disclosure, reference and qualifications check and eligibility to work in Australia.

Key responsibilities

As Senior Service Support Officer, you will specifically:

• Undertake culturally appropriate assessment, planning and case management for young people and their families.
• Develop and conduct programs and services to young people at risk of entering the youth justice system.
• Implement programs and service response plans through negotiation with service providers and linking clients to the service/supports they require (including formal and informal services, government, and non-government agencies).
• Undertake a range of record and information management tasks including maintenance of case notes and records, preparation of reports, performance reporting and data entry to ensure casework and organisational accountability.
• Consult and effectively work with relevant stakeholders including families, Elders, other key community members, community agencies and government departments to enhance their capacity to support young people and their families.
• Participate productively and collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in delivering programs and services to clients.
• Actively participate in and contribute to the good governance and objectives of the directorate and department.
• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Travel

• While the position is based Mount Isa travel within the region for site visits and to other regional/departmental offices may be required in this role. This may include overnight stays.
