Housing Officer
Delivery; First Nations Housing & Homelessness; Policy Performance & First Nations; Cairns or Thursday Island
You will provide a broad range of services and advice to customers with complex support needs, advocates and other stakeholders. As part of a team you will provide high quality, person-centred assistance to First Nations customers experiencing complex and challenging housing, and whole of life issues.
Regular travel and field work in remote communities is a requirement of the role. The department does not provide long term accommodation for this role. When travelling on behalf of the department, accommodation will be provided. The person best
suited for the role must be able to travel frequently to regional and remote locations.

The skills you will need include being able to:
• Demonstrate an understanding of historical and contemporary issues impacting First Nations peoples and an understanding of cultural and community protocols.
• Model professional, ethical and culturally sensitive behaviour and consistently apply those standards to yourself and others.
• Prioritise tasks and projects efficiently, in line with team commitments.
• Accept decision making responsibility and demonstrate judgement about when to escalate issues.
• Demonstrate respect and appreciation for legislation and policy frameworks by consistently operating to key standards.
• Maintain accurate and timely customer records, documents and files ensuring departmental compliance.
Mandatory Requirement
• Class C Driver's License
• Ability to undertake regular and frequent travel as part of a Tenancy Management Team.
