The Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support has an exciting opportunity to join our Project Office team where you will play a key role in keeping Queensland communities safe. We are actively tackling the complex causes of youth crime and addressing serious repeat offenders and ensuring our systems and services not only meet but anticipate the needs of victims.
Youth Justice Strategy, Policy and Legislation is a high performing team, responsible for leading major policy and legislative reforms across the department’s portfolio responsibilities.
The Project Office is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the strategic objectives of the department, its alignment with the priorities of government, seeking and maintaining the authorising environment.

We do this by providing:
- early intervention, statutory Youth Justice, and detention services to ensure that young people are held accountable for their offending behaviour.
- support to young people to become responsible members of the community through programs and community partnerships, which foster the achievement of positive life outcomes.
- trauma-informed support and resources to victims to ensure they can recover and heal, whilst ensuring the voices and experiences of victims are heard and respected.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Manager you will specifically:
- Provide leadership, expert analysis and interpretation of the evidence base for DYJVS data collection analysis and program measurement for the department.
- Coordinate the provision of authorisation, professional and timely advice on DYJVS research and program evaluation.
- Demonstrate an applied understanding of the youth justice context when preparing and reviewing submissions and reports, and to think and act critically in accordance with the strategic drivers and issues underpinning it.
- Provide expert advice and strategic input into the development and monitoring of program deliverables, ensuring alignment with government commitments.
- Lead effective stakeholder engagement with a wide range of organisations, agencies and offices.
- Coordinate submissions, documentation, proposals and initiatives, and contribute a strategic perspective to responses.
- Manage program evaluations of a complex, sensitive and contentious nature.
- Active participation in and contribution to the governance and strategic objectives of the department.
- Lead monitoring projects using appropriate project management techniques, research and evaluation methodologies and data analysis tools.
