In this role you will be responsible for supervising and monitoring the successful implementation and ongoing delivery of contemporary education and Vocational Education & Training (VET), training and assessment, programs, and services. These services are designed to increase prisoner access to rehabilitation and reintegration opportunities and improve educational and vocational educational outcomes supporting successful reintegration upon release.

The primary accountabilities of the Senior Education Services Coordinator include:

  • Manage, allocate, prioritise, supervise, and perform work tasks in accordance with legislation, agency policies and procedures, practice frameworks and statutory, financial, and administrative delegations, including responsible resource management (human, financial, curriculum) to achieve annual performance targets and goals.
  • Supervise and monitor responsive and contextualised, program, course, and class (curriculum) design. Review and evaluate the continuous development of high-quality delivery and learning practices and training and assessment practices, ensuring flexible modes of delivery (face to face, electronic, industries-based) support prisoner engagement, centre operations, and alignment with agency initiatives, goals, and targets.
  • Work closely with key internal and external stakeholders, including Auspice partners, external RTOs and Offender Rehabilitation and Management Services (ORMS), to ensure scheduling and coordination of education and VET programs, courses and classes occurs effectively, including overseeing of prisoner waitlists and class allocations, as well as all other logistical requirements to support education and VET service delivery.
  • Supervise and monitor a range of internally and externally delivered education and VET programs and services, comprehensive prisoner induction processes, front-end assessments, and referral processes, including the planning and delivery of all education and VET programs, courses, classes and training assessments as required.
  • Build and maintain excellent professional relationships with ORMS, external service providers, Auspice partners and external RTOs and education partners; collaborate, cooperate, and comply with governance processes, including ensuring education and VET delivery, training and assessment is fair, flexible, valid and reliable, evidenced-based and contextualised for the cohort, and responsive to the needs of the centre.
  • Supervise, monitor, and develop a team of professional education and VET staff through demonstrated competence in frontline education and vocational education management techniques, including setting high standards of performance and workplace expectations, and providing mentoring, coaching and performance feedback and appraisal processes to support continual development.
  • Provide supervision that considers the cultural and diverse needs of First Nations staff within the team.
  • Actively contribute to the centre's operating model and guiding principles, participate in multidisciplinary team practices, and engage in broader initiatives such Integrated Case Management practices to maximise rehabilitation, reintegration, and education and vocational education opportunities for prisoners.
  • Provide proactive, clear, and concise information to the Rehabilitation and Reintegration Manager and ORMS and facilitate sharing of critical information between key internal and external stakeholders to maximise efficiency, training and assessment, compliance and governance practices, achievement of successful outcomes and effective implementation of the educational model of service.
