Join us as a Senior Operations Coordinator and play a key role in driving operational excellence within a dynamic and impactful program. This is an exciting opportunity to lead teams, manage operations, and deliver high-quality outcomes while ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and quality standards.
In this role, you will conduct regular risk reviews, ensuring risks are managed effectively at an operational level by maintaining the operational risk register. You will design and implement corrective actions as needed and provide valuable input to management regarding strategic risks. Your ability to identify and mitigate risks will be critical to ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
You will manage assigned operational strategies, policies, and plans, ensuring compliance with quality requirements and regulations. By planning operational activities for your assigned area, you will ensure the delivery of outputs that meet quality and quantity expectations, while maintaining financial sustainability and efficient use of resources. This includes managing stakeholder relationships and
expectations to achieve successful outcomes.
A key responsibility will be to manage outputs and operational quality by developing and periodically updating standard operating procedures and policies within your area of responsibility. You will oversee the development and maintenance of operational budgets, ensuring efficient and compliant spending. Additionally, you will coordinate logistics and maintain supply chains to support program outcomes effectively.
As a Senior Operations Coordinator, you will lead research and investigation into improved operational methods. You will trial, recommend, and implement initiatives, using insights gained to recommend improvements to senior management. Your ability to innovate and drive continuous improvement will be highly valued.
You will supervise the allocation of work assignments and track progress from your direct reports, establishing clear parameters for staff to exercise initiative and escalate matters as needed. Managing a diverse occupational group or multidisciplinary team, you will ensure all HR responsibilities are undertaken in accordance with DAF policies, including recruitment, performance management, and leave applications.
Your role will also involve interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, instructions, or other guidelines related to the operations, policies, or functions of your work area. Strong stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution skills will be essential as you negotiate issues with both internal and external stakeholders. This may include resolving internal local-level complaints and disputes.
Overnight travel and extended periods of up to five days per fortnight on a rotational basis may be required to support program outcomes. Your flexibility and commitment to the role will ensure the success of operational activities across various locations.
Key skills and attributes we are looking for include:
Proven experience in managing risks, operational strategies, and compliance. Strong leadership skills to supervise teams and manage HR responsibilities. Expertise in planning, logistics, and budget management to achieve outcomes. Analytical and problem-solving skills to improve processes and recommend initiatives.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution abilities. Knowledge of legislation, regulations, and policies relevant to operational
management.
