Are you interested in identifying and driving the delivery of strategic priorities in collaboration with divisions across a dynamic and diverse department? We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Senior Policy Officer to join the Strategy, Insights and Communications team within the Office of the Director-General, in the Department of Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Parternships and Multiculturalism.
The role will collaborate with divisions across the Department to test, assess and drive the delivery of strategic opportunities, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and objectives.

This is a temporary position for eleven months and is based in our Brisbane office with flexible work options available.
About our team
The Strategy, Insights and Communications team is comprised of strategists, engagement professionals and communicators who are influential strategic partners to the Department. We are low-ego, high impact, and work as a team to help realise the vision of the Department.
Your new opportunity
This role will primarily support the strategy and insights functions of the broader Strategy, Insights and Communications team, to identify, jump-start and drive delivery of key strategic opportunities.
You will gather insights, analyse data, and work in collaboration with divisions across the Department to test and assess the feasibility of potential strategic opportunities, including alignment with the Department's vision and strategic objectives. You will drive visibility and accountability across the strategic work program through ongoing monitoring and reporting of delivery of strategic priorities.
What You'll Do
- Research and analyse complex policy issues to develop evidence-based solutions.
- Identify and assess strategic opportunities, providing recommendations to senior leaders.
- Prepare high-quality reports, briefs, and project plans to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with internal teams, government stakeholders, and external partners to deliver practical policy solutions.
- Represent the team in discussions and working groups, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
- Plan and manage projects, meeting deadlines and delivering outcomes efficiently.
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Communicate complex ideas clearly and translate them into actionable plans.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise and negotiate effectively.
- Project management skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes on time.
- Knowledge of government policy and processes and the ability to navigate complex environments.
