Ranger in Charge
Southern Parks & Forests Regional Operations; Management & Operations; QPWS & Partnerships; Bunya Mountains
This role leads a team of rangers managing the iconic Bunya Mountains National Park and Conservation Park. While the successful applicant will participate in operational ranger activities, the primary focus is on coordinating daily management tasks and strategic projects. Experience in staff supervision, leadership, and natural resource management is highly desirable.
Based at the Bunya Mountains, the role involves long-distance travel, with overnight stays ranging from motels to bush camps in remote areas under varying climatic conditions. Physical fitness is recommended for tasks such as infrastructure maintenance, pest control, and fire management. The position operates on a rotating 10/4 roster to cover weekend patrols, with additional weekend or after-hours work required for compliance or emergency responses, including wildfires.
