Join our team supporting primary industries in South East Queensland. As Senior Project Officer, you will lead delivery of the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce’s primary producer self-management project. You will plan, coordinate and evaluate project activities, supervise a small team, and provide technical advice to primary producers on fire ant risk mitigation, surveillance, treatment and reporting. You will engage with rural communities through workshops, field days and meetings, promoting effective fire ant management and responding to public enquiries. Some weekend work is required to support producer training and outreach activities.

As our Senior Project Officer, you will:
● Develop and apply project management skills and knowledge to successfully plan, deliver and evaluate the Fire Ant Suppression Taskforce primary producer's fire ant self-management project.
● Supervise and help lead a small project team to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the project.
● Provide technical advice to primary producers and other rural residents on the effective implementation of fire ant management, including risk mitigation, surveillance, treatment and reporting.
● Provide effective project coordination, reporting and tracking of project activities including project deliverables and risks.
● Lead project data recording processes utilising departmental programs, including GIS mapping, field data capture and integration into National Fire Ant Eradication
Program IT systems. Ensure sound governance of data collection, storage, analysis and reporting of results.
● Plan and coordinate activities that support the engagement and extension with primary producers and other rural residents in the fire ant suppression area of South East Queensland, to incentivise and enable fire ant self-management.
● Represent the Department at workshops, field days, meetings and engagements with primary producers to promote fire ant management activities and options.
● Respond to public concerns and complaints while maintaining positive community relations.
● The position will require some weekend work to facilitate training workshops.

You may also have
• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or relevant transferable experience would be desirable
