Join the Joint Management Team at the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS), where you'll work at the forefront of preserving and enhancing the cultural and environmental heritage of our state's National Parks. This is a rare opportunity to combine your passion for environmental conservation, leadership, and collaboration with Traditional Owners to deliver sustainable outcomes for future generations.
Based in Cairns, this role offers an exciting chance to work with a geographically dispersed team, managing the implementation of Joint Management and Cooperative Management Agreements across National Parks in Northern Queensland. These agreements represent a unique partnership between the department and the Traditional Owners of the land, ensuring that the cultural and environmental significance of these areas is preserved and celebrated. As the Senior Ranger, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting and fostering these relationships,
while leading efforts to protect the natural beauty and biodiversity of Queensland. In this largely autonomous role, you'll be responsible for building and maintaining meaningful relationships with Traditional Owners. Central to this s is the ability to collaborate, provide advice and promote conservation and sustainable use of protected areas.

The role offers flexibility and variety, with work arrangements that may include weekend and public holiday shifts, after-hours incident responses, and field-based activities. Travel away from your base location, including overnight stays, may be required to support the delivery of your responsibilities.
