The Planning and Heritage Branch sits within the Environment and Heritage Policy and Programs division of the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI). The branch delivers Queensland's coastal, environmental and bioregional planning functions, and heritage development assessment and register functions, including support to the Queensland Heritage Council.
Your contribution:
As the AO7 Business Manager, you'll be a trusted adviser to the Planning and Heritage Branch leadership team, playing a central role in how the branch plans, prioritises, and delivers its work. You'll have real influence over budget, workforce and governance decisions, helping leaders navigate complexity with clear, practical advice.
You'll lead the branch's financial and business management functions including coordinating annual budgets, overseeing month end processes, and preparing high quality financial and performance reports that support confident, evidence-based decision making. Rather than just managing processes, you'll help shape smarter ways of working, strengthening governance and improving efficiency across the branch.
The role also gives you the opportunity to build capability and confidence across the team, overseeing executive support services and supporting best practice program and project management. You'll work closely with senior leaders, colleagues across the department and key partners, building strong relationships based on trust and collaboration.
This role is well suited to someone who enjoys autonomy, values purpose driven work and wants to apply their business and financial expertise in a way that genuinely supports Queensland's coastal, environmental and bioregional planning and heritage outcomes.
What's in it for you?
