TARGETED VACANCY

It is a genuine occupational requirement that this position be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. As a Senior Program Officer (Identified) you will:

• Develop and/or manage projects and programs that support the effective delivery of services relevant to the business unit, to achieve delegated authority to community controlled organisations.
• Consult with government agencies and community organisations to support the development of effective policy and program options to deliver and maintain quality services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders towards the development and implementation of whole-of-government policy and program initiatives relating to the programs and initiatives delivered by the business unit.
• Undertake research and provide advice to government and regional staff.
• Prepare a range of written materials including cabinet submissions, executive correspondence, briefing material, speech notes and information papers concerned with the programs and initiatives delivered by the business unit.
• Collaborate with other departmental staff in the management of communication and information activities to ensure broad awareness of issues affecting Queenslanders with disability.
• Develop and maintain systems for the effective monitoring and review of policy and programs which are the responsibility of the business unit.
• Extensive experience in tertiary child protection practice and possession of a degree and/or post graduate studies in related content is highly desirable.

Your mandatory requirements

• Undertake intrastate travel for short periods is a requirement of this position; therefore, it is a requirement that the applicant must hold a driver's licence. Accepted driver's licences fall into the following categories:
- “O” (open) or “P2” (provisional green P plate)
- and “C” or “CA” class driver's licence
• Blue card - It is mandatory to have a blue card before you commence employment in a child-related role. It is recommended you lodge an application for a blue card as soon as possible to avoid any delays in commencement should you be offered a position with the department.
