Principal Program Officer

As the Principal Program Officer, you will provide exceptional executive support and advice to the Executive Director on program and service delivery, performance reporting and governance matters within the branch. You will have extensive experience in providing high-level specialist support, coordination, preparation and management of comprehensive reports and responses to requests for information, consultation and briefings. You will also have strong project management skills. This role supports the Executive Director in ensuring that they have oversight of program and service delivery, receive quality and timely performance reports, and that they meet stakeholder and sector expectations, and align with relevant strategies. Your ability to stay informed of current matters, analyse information, influence, problem solve, and coordinate workflow is essential to your success in this role.

As a Principal Program Officer, you will:
• Provide authoritative, professional and timely advice to the Executive Director on key issues pertaining to planning and performance management, ministerial and executive support, and program and project management.
• Monitor and coordinate the branch's effective management of departmental and ministerial correspondence and enquiries including discussion papers, policy and program reviews, media enquiries and sponsorship requests.
• Critically analyse, research and quality assure documents to ensure the provision of person-centred, high quality, accurate and timely responses to meet the branch's financial, program monitoring and reporting requirements, and ministerial and executive correspondence and other requests.
• Manage and monitor projects as directed and report to the Executive Director on their progress and outcomes.
• Monitor, develop and implement systems for the management of program governance, implementation and reporting for the branch.
• Coordinate the branch's input into complex corporate governance projects such as those relating to the department's annual reporting cycle and other projects as directed (e.g. annual report, parliamentary estimates committee hearings and strategic planning).
• Prepare a range of written materials including reports, cabinet submissions, executive correspondence, briefing material, speech notes and information papers concerned with the programs and initiatives delivered by the branch.
• Establish and maintain effective professional networks with key stakeholders including the Office of the Deputy Director-General and other directorates and divisions, and key sector stakeholders.
Your mandatory requirements
• NDIS Worker Screening clearance (mandatory before commencing).
