Senior Assessor
Financial Assistance Unit A; Victim Assist Queensland; Victim Support; South Brisbane
The Senior Assessor will be appointed by the Chief Executive as a Government Assessor under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009 (Section 128). This position reports to the Team Leader, Financial Assistance and will:
• Perform functions as required under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
• Undertake evidence-based decision making in line with legislative intent to provide financial assistance to victims of crime.
• Provide authoritative advice to administrative officers as required to enable the timely and responsive delivery of services to victims of crime.

Key responsibilities:
- Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Undertakes evidence-based decision making in accordance with the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
- Delivers quality and responsive services to clients through the application of Victim Assist resources, policies, processes, systems and technologies.
- Responsible for the case-management of applications for financial assistance, including accurate record-keeping, and providing mentoring as required.
- Takes responsibility for completion of work and seeks guidance when required.
- Communicates effectively and creates trusting relationships with a range of stakeholders including other departmental business units and the non-government sector, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of Victim Assist services.
- Contributes to a high performing team, collaborates with others, displays motivation, and shares and encourages innovative ideas.
- Identifies and implements ways to continually improve services, though sharing and seeking creative ideas, suggestions and data to inform the effective delivery of services.
