About your opportunity:
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to lead a dedicated team in shaping the future of sexual violence case reviews in Queensland. As the Manager, Prosecutions Case Review, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality responses and submissions to key boards and committees, including the Sexual Violence Review Board and the Sexual Offence Case Management Pilot program board.
In this temporary three-year role, you will:
- Lead a team of administration and legal professionals to ensure the delivery of high-calibre responses and submissions to boards and committees overseeing sexual violence cases.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to review prosecution cases, with a specific focus on sexual violence and sexual offending.
- Position the ODPP to respond effectively to requests for information, leveraging high-quality data and analytics related to the prosecution of sexual offences.
- Coordinate responses to enquiries and requests for information from the Office of the Victims Commissioner.
- Review highly complex legal cases, providing expert advice and guidance to legal officers involved in the review of prosecution cases.
- Develop and embed a robust prosecution monitoring and review framework, while providing managerial oversight of the Prosecution Review Team.
What we're looking for:
- High-level legal practice capabilities, preferably developed through experience in criminal law, with a strong understanding of the legal framework and operations of the justice sector.
- Demonstrated experience in engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including victims of crime, victim advocacy groups, inter-departmental working groups, and governance bodies.
- Advanced analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex legal matters and negotiate outcomes in a fast paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed practices in victim-centric services.
- Proven leadership capability, with experience managing and inspiring a team of professionals to deliver sustainable services and drive accountability for outcomes.
- A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with cultural maturity and a dedication to upholding the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
Mandatory requirements:
You will be admitted as a Legal Practitioner in a State or Territory of Australia (please indicate date of admission).
