Veterans Queensland is seeking an AO8 Manager, Policy and Governance to help deliver the Queensland Veterans and Veterans’ Families Strategy. In this role you will lead the development and coordination of veteran-related policy, strategies and initiatives; provide high-quality advice, briefs and Cabinet submissions for senior leaders and Executive Government; and build strong partnerships across government and key stakeholders. You will also support governance and finance processes, including coordinating budget submissions and contributing to annual reporting and secretariat support for the Queensland Veterans’ Council. Strong judgement, relationship-building skills, and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly are essential.

How you'll contribute:

Veterans Queensland is seeking an AO8 Manager, Policy and Governance to help deliver meaningful outcomes for veterans and their families across Queensland. This role supports the implementation of the Queensland Veterans and Veterans' Families Strategy and Action Plan, and contributes to the development of policies, programs and initiatives that respond to emerging issues and government priorities related to veterans and their families.

What you'll bring to the role:

Working across government and with key stakeholders, you will provide high-quality, timely policy advice to senior leaders and Executive Government, including the Premier and Minister for Veterans. You will prepare well-researched written products such as briefs, submissions, talking points, correspondence and Cabinet submissions. You'll monitor and coordinate responses to policy requests, analyse complex and sensitive issues, and develop clear options and recommendations to support sound decision-making.

You will also contribute to effective governance and business processes, including budget submission coordination, annual reporting, and secretariat support activities (including support to the Queensland Veterans' Council as required). The role requires strong judgement, excellent writing and stakeholder management skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
