We are seeking two temporary Project Support Officers with a positive, can‑do attitude to support the Program Controls Team in Cairns. This opportunity is available for up to 12 months, with possible extension, and offers the chance to contribute to the successful delivery of infrastructure programs across Far North Queensland.

As a Project Support Officer, your role will be pivotal in providing advanced support functions, ensuring project managers and team members have the high-level assistance needed to execute project deliverables efficiently and in compliance with legislation and guidelines.

About the Role:
We are currently seeking two dedicated and skilled Project Support Officers to join our Program Controls team in Cairns. In these exciting roles, you will utilise a diverse range of computer software programs, information management systems, and databases to provide high-level support services to project managers and team  members. Your contributions will enhance the timely and effective delivery of projects, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, organisational policies, and procedures.

As a Project Support Officer, you will be involved in various tasks, including interpreting and applying financial policies and procedures around the QTRIP program, undertaking roads infrastructure program/project reporting, providing administrative support to project managers and team members, and ensuring operational practices and performance align with departmental and regional guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
• Where required, administer, maintain and ensure the delivery of a range of support activities associated with:
- Interpret and apply financial policies and procedures around the QTRIP program.
- Undertake roads infrastructure program/ project reporting to ensure accurate tracking, and to indicate the overall financial position and provide early warnings of deviations.
• Providing high level administrative support to QTRIP and other project managers and team members, including project scheduling, accounts payable, accounts receivable, establishing and maintaining spreadsheets and registers and providing timely information, updates and presentations as required.
• Ensure operational practices and standards of service and performance comply with departmental and regional policies, legislation (incl. WH&S), and governance obligations.
• Provide effective performance management and assistance for project administration staff to ensure tasks are completed within specified deadlines.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• Must be eligible to work in Australia.
• Pre-employment check of serious discipline history for the recommended candidate(s) as a condition of employment.

Desirable:
• While qualifications are not mandatory, sound knowledge of financial acts and regulations would be beneficial.
• Prior knowledge and experience in Financial Systems such as SAP or the ability to learn quickly.
• Highly proficient in using the current Microsoft Office Suite.
• Current holder of Class C driver licence
