As a Senior Reporting Officer within the Data and Analytics team, you will provide operational and strategic advice and options on all aspects of reporting. This includes governance, scope, report builds, as well as maintenance, audits, and continuous improvement activities for multiple business units across the Office of the Public Guardian.

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is an independent statutory office established to protect the rights and interests of adults with impaired decision making capacity, and children and young people in the child protection system and other visitable sites.

Your key responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a high level of written, analytical and oral communication skills. 
  • Co-ordinate and lead the reporting of data for the Office of the Public Guardian's (OPG) internal and external requirements. This includes responding to ad hoc data requests from internal and external stakeholders when required.
  • Develop and maintain technical and business facing documentation that supports the functions of the Data and Analytics team. This includes data dictionaries, maintenance audits, and continuous improvement activities. As well as the contribution to briefs and other data informed reports when necessary.
  • Contribute to operational and strategic planning activities and performance indicators relating to the Data and Analytics team.  
  • Identify and analyse systemic trends from relevant data and raised with relevant internal stakeholders, assisting them to interpret data and utilise reports to inform decisions.  
  • Monitor and ensure the performance, security and technological interface of programs and systems used are monitored and escalated when required to positively contribute to business continuity.  
  • Lead, support and supervise reporting staff to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of high-quality reporting and strategic advice.  
  • Coordinate team activities in an accountable, timely and professional manner and report on key outcome areas.

Qualifications and conditions 

There are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, however, relevant qualifications in analytics/reporting and/or experience would be highly regarded. Familiarity with Queensland Government reporting standards and frameworks would be desirable.
