The purpose of the Principal Advisor (Project Controls) is to provide meaningful Project Controls team insights to senior leaders, supporting the development and implementation of frameworks and tools, that embed a culture where risk and schedule performance are understood, valued, and actively managed across the project.

Key responsibilities:
•Provide high-level advice on risk and scheduling to senior leaders, including the Manager (Project Controls), Project Director, and Package Directors, to support informed decision-making and project success.
•Deliver advanced scheduling services and risk management in line with government policies, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, departmental standards, and accurate reporting to senior executives and external stakeholders.
•Develop, implement, and improve risk and schedule management frameworks,systems, and tools, using data analytics to enhance forecasting and provide actionable insights for better project outcomes.
•Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including Queensland Rail and delivery proponents, to ensure integrated risk and schedule management across project interfaces.
•Identify and apply emerging best practices in governance, risk, and scheduling for major infrastructure projects.
•Mentor and guide team members and stakeholders, fostering collaboration, accountability, and innovation, while supporting the adoption of risk and schedule management tools across the project.

Skills and experience:
• Possess a tertiary qualification in engineering, risk and/or project management, or deep practical knowledge with more than five years of hands-on experience within large or complex environments or infrastructure projects in senior risk and schedule roles.
• Demonstrated expertise in quantitative and qualitative risk assessment, schedule risk analysis, and earned value management.
• Familiarity with ISO 31000 risk management standards, and @Risk, Acumen Fuse Suit, or equivalent risk management software.
• Experience in managing risk and schedule functions within large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in urban transport or rail environments.
• Understanding of project cost control and earned value would be an advantage.

We are looking for someone who demonstrates:
• Proven experience in aligning teams with organisational goals, adapting to feedback, and achieving key outcomes.
• Strong analytical skills with expertise in using data, systems, and visualisation tools to generate insights and support strategic thinking.
• Proficient in Oracle Primavera Suite within complex infrastructure projects.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with executives, governance committees, and diverse stakeholders.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, fostering innovation, and promoting accountability and performance.
• Extensive experience in the infrastructure industry with a solid understanding of risk and schedule management best practices.
• Willingness to travel within the project area and between offices, with the role based in Brisbane or Sunshine Coast and flexible work arrangements available.
