The Professional Standards and Governance Command (PSGC) ensures that the community has confidence that QCS as a top-tier public safety agency is delivering professional corrective services through a competent and confident workforce supported by strong and ethical leadership.

As the Principal Adviser, Performance and Risk, you will help ensure that QCS remains a top-tier public safety agency, delivering professional corrective services through a competent workforce and strong, ethical leadership.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, review, and evaluate performance reporting mechanisms and counting rules for strategic and operational needs.
  • Incorporate and monitor effective risk management practices at operational and strategic levels. 
  • Coordinate governance reporting and prepare business cases, reports, submissions, briefings, and correspondence. 
  • Aggregate and analyse data, identify trends through thematic reviews, and conduct statistical analysis on divisional operations. 
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations to senior leadership on performance outcomes and high-risk governance matters. 
  • Work closely with managers and business units to enhance governance and respond to oversight bodies' recommendations. 
  • Prepare performance and trend reports, including graphical visualisations, to support monitoring and improvement. 
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and contemporary issues within QCS. 
  • Foster a workplace environment that values performance, continuous improvement, and innovation.

Role Requirements: 

  • Demonstrated experience in business governance and risk management, including interpreting and applying legislation and procedures.
  • Ability to utilise corporate information systems and prepare performance reports. 
  • Strong analytical skills and innovative strategies for managing risk and resolving issues. 
  • Proven communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. 
  • Strategic thinking and planning for business improvement initiatives. 
  • Prioritisation, coordination, and ability to meet deadlines in an agile environment. 
  • Experience in criminal justice, human services, or a regulatory agency is desirable. 
  • High integrity, ethical decision-making, and appreciation for diversity and equity in the workplace.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Formal qualifications in business, management, risk management, public policy, or related disciplines. 
  • Experience working with Resolve and Power BI. 
  • Membership or certification with relevant professional associations.
