Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) plays a leadership role in the biosecurity system in collaboration with its stakeholders. BQ leads the Queensland Government's efforts to protect our way of life, environment, biodiversity, human and animal health, industries and economy from plant and animal pest and disease threats.

Through supporting the collective efforts of our stakeholders and all Queenslanders, BQ will continue to protect our state and Australia from emerging plant and animal pests and diseases and effectively manage existing ones.

Invasive Plants and Animals (IPA) significantly affect the environment, agricultural production, infrastructure, human health and our way of life in general. The IPA program directs, facilitates and delivers strategic and targeted action to reduce the impact of invasive species in Queensland.

As Operations Coordinator, you will:
• Coordinate and oversee operational delivery for the National Tropical Weeds Eradication Program, including planning, procedure review, reporting, and effective resource allocation.
• Lead and supervise remote field teams to deliver national response plan safely and effectively, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and biosecurity requirements.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships, manage public liaison and compliance activities, maintain GIS and operational data, and drive continuous improvement in surveillance and detection.

There are some qualifications that we see as essential. You must possess a:
• A current “C” class drivers' licence.
• Operate safely and effectively in remote, rugged rainforest environments, supporting field teams and navigating physically demanding terrain.
• Manage competing operational priorities with sound judgement, including coordinating remote teams, responding to emerging issues, handling conflict professionally, and conducting investigations when required.
• Demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to a respectful, inclusive, and psychologically safe workplace.
