As the Director, Legal Assistance Strategy and Funding (LASF), you'll play a key role in strengthening access to justice for Queenslanders. Working closely with the Executive Director and Deputy Director-General, you'll help shape strategy, design and implement programs, and use evidence and insights to improve outcomes across the legal assistance sector.

You'll lead a multidisciplinary team and work closely with government and sector partners to deliver meaningful, system-wide impact.

About the role

  • Lead the development of evidence-based research and strategic policy advice to inform senior decision-making across government 
  • Provide high-level advice to the Executive Director, Deputy Director-General and senior leaders on complex program and funding matters 
  • Drive engagement and partnership with government and sector stakeholders to support coordinated and integrated legal assistance services 
  • Oversee the design, delivery, evaluation and improvement of legal assistance programs and funding arrangements across Queensland

About you 

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across government and the sector 
  • Experience leading teams through change, improvement and capability development in an inclusive and supportive way 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing high-quality briefs, reports and advice for senior leaders 
  • Understanding of, or willingness to develop capability in, commissioning, procurement and contract management in a public sector environment
