We're looking for a hands-on Ranger in Charge to lead a small team to manage the vessel fleet, marine infrastructure and day to day compliance activities, in a very busy multi-use marine park that is Moreton Bay Marine Park. One day you'll be educating users of the marine park, the next you are responding to a live marine mammal stranding in a remote location with only vessel access. This is an exciting, fast-paced role requiring confidence working on small vessels across varied and sometimes challenging marine conditions.

Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks (GBR&MP) Region are excited to share an incredible opportunity for a 006, Ranger in Charge to join the team on a Permanent basis.

As one of the six regions of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the GBR&MP Region delivers conservation and management activities across land and  sea including implementing the Reef Joint Field Management Program in the Great  Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. Additionally, the Region oversees the state's  southern marine parks - Great Sandy Marine Park and Moreton Bay Marine Park.

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced leader to take on the Ranger in Charge role. This position plays a key part in the Moreton Bay Marine Park leadership team, overseeing operational rangers, coordinating annual work programs, and managing day-to-day marine park operations in the field.

Based in Manly, the role focuses on managing the vessel fleet and marine infrastructure, including overseeing dive operations, planning and delivering field activities, and developing team and individual work plans. It also involves compliance responsibilities, human resource management, and oversight of vehicles, equipment and other assets.

Role focus:  
•  Lead and supervise operational rangers to deliver annual work programs, field operations and key projects, ensuring effective planning, resource allocation and team performance.
•  Oversee marine park operations, including vessel fleet, marine infrastructure and dive activities, while managing park assets, compliance and day-to-day field delivery.
•  Plan and implement park management initiatives, including infrastructure development, natural and cultural resource management, fire, pest and weed control, and emergency response coordination.
•  Build strong stakeholder and community relationships, lead customer engagement and compliance activities, and support First Nations partnerships and marine wildlife response efforts.

This is an exciting, fast-paced role requiring confidence working on small vessels across varied and sometimes challenging marine conditions. The role also involves supporting marine wildlife stranding responses, providing operational assistance to other management units as needed, and working closely with First Nations communities in the region.

To be considered you must hold the following qualifications/licences:
•  An automatic/ unrestricted manual driver's licence.

However; highly regarded:
•  Coxswain Gradel Near Coastal or higher.
•  Senior First Aid certificate.
•  Advanced Resuscitation.
