Your role within Policy, Performance & First Nations will support the department to develop & implement housing and homelessness strategies & policies to support increased rates of home ownership for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander
peoples and drive housing and homelessness reform to deliver outcomes for First Nations peoples and communities. The work you will do helps someone every day, and that means the world to us
You will provide high-level advice on, and contribute to developing strategies, policies, programs and plans to support the strategic development and delivery of First Nations Housing and Homelessness policies and programs, including home ownership initiatives.
Occasional intrastate travel including overnight stays in remote communities for up to 4 days may be required. Access to some communities will be via small aircraft with minimal personal luggage.

What you will be doing:
• Develop strategic policy and provide accurate and comprehensive briefings, high level advice and recommendations to senior management and to government on First Nations Housing and Homelessness as required.
• Play a leading role in the development of First Nations home ownership policies and initiatives.
• Support the delivery of Action Plan initiatives aimed at fostering private market pathways that will increase the home ownership rate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland.
• Promote the achievement of First Nations Housing and Homelessness outcomes through the application of sound project management principles and methodologies.
• Develop and manage performance reporting frameworks on First Nations Housing and Homelessness outcomes.
• Support a high-performance workplace culture characterised by honesty, trust, inclusion, transparency, accountability and continuous learning and improvement and support the team.

• Rigorously research, analyse and synthesise information and demonstrate strong knowledge and skills in relation to First Nations Housing and Homelessness.
• A critical requirement of the position is an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander protocols and issues to effectively and sensitively consult, negotiate and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Councils, Trustees and communities.
