Support Officer
High Risk Offender Management Unit; Community Corrections; Community Corrections & Specialist Operations; Brisbane
The High Risk Offender Management Unit (HROMU) team based in the Brisbane and Townsville regions is responsible for the supervision of offenders subject to a supervision order pursuant to the Dangerous Prisoners (Sexual Offenders) Act 2003 (DPSOA) residing throughout Queensland. It comprises of the following work groups:
• HROMU Strategic Risk and Support, including the Clinical Support Unit.
• HROMU Operations SEQ, operating from the Wacol area and responsible for the management of offenders under the DPSOA across Brisbane and South East Queensland.
• HROMU Central to Far Northern, operating from Townsville and responsible for the management of offenders under the DPSOA across Central, Northern and Far Northern regions.

The essential requirements for this role are:
• Experience working within a high profile work unit of significant strategic importance
• Communication skills as demonstrated through the ability to listen, understand and speak clearly to a wide range of audiences. Written skills with the ability to summarise information and data
• Competence in handling cash and maintaining an accountable recording system
• Proven administrative skills including financial processing and database management
• Ability to apply and understand departmental policies and procedures
• Ability to use judgment and discretion with confidential information
• Planning & Organising abilities to ensure tasks are completed within the required deadlines and in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures
• Ability to acquire knowledge of relevant acts and regulations
• Decision making and reasoning involve gathering information, evaluating a variety of solutions, and selecting the best option, working ethically, working under pressure and demonstrating resilience
• Teamwork skills with the ability to work without supervision and as part of the broader team. In addition, demonstrated ability to collaborate and contribute to team results.
• Information technology skills at a competent level with the willingness to learn new IT skills and use internal information management databases as well as Microsoft Office software
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with a focus on providing strong customer service.
Other conditions and requirements:
There may be instances where the incumbent will be required to work hours outside the normal work hours, undertake travel to other locations, or temporarily work from an alternate location.
