As the Supervisor (Mechanical Workshops), you'll lead a hands‑on team delivering efficient maintenance, servicing, and inspections of plant and equipment. You'll oversee workflow, support trades and apprentices, ensure safe and compliant practices, and drive continuous improvement across both workshop and field service operations to maintain high reliability and minimise downtime.
Accountabilities include:
• Creating and managing a daily work program, including prestart meetings, stock and materials management, effective scheduling, and quality control of workshop activities.
• Providing training, mentoring, coaching, and feedback to support staff development, while ensuring apprentices are given planned on‑the‑job learning opportunities.
• Driving continuous improvement and maintaining high equipment reliability by ensuring workshop practices comply with RoadTek policies, legislation, regulations, and NHVAS standards.
• Overseeing stakeholder management for Mechanical Workshop - Fleet Maintenance Management Systems (FMMS), including preparing estimates, providing specialist mechanical advice, and monitoring performance against budget.
• Promoting a strong safety culture by developing and maintaining safety procedures aligned with Workplace Health and Safety legislation and RoadTek requirements.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• A recognized mechanical trade qualification (e.g. MEM31419 Certificate III in Engineering - Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic, AUR31120 Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).
• Supervisory experience with at least five years' experience as a qualified mechanical tradesperson.
• Possession of a White card (General Safety Induction (Construction Industry).
• A reasonable amount of travel consistent with industry standards will be required throughout the operational unit.
• Applicants must possess a current, valid Queensland "C" class driver's licence or equivalent.
• HR Class Drivers Licence (Or the commitment to acquire within the first 3 months of appointment).
• TMR has a Drug and Alcohol Policy which applies to all Employees, Workers and Visitors to TMR workplaces. This may include random, post incident and reasonable suspicion testing during employment to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
Desirable qualifications and conditions
• Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of RoadTek operating systems (for example SAP - plant maintenance module, FMMS, NHVAS)
• Certificate 4 in Leadership and Management or equivalent recognised qualifications
• Relevant industry experience
