The Delivery Portfolio Management Office within Strategic Rail is seeking a Principal Advisor (Portfolio Controls Specialist) to provide governance, reporting and portfolio control support for Queensland’s rail investment program.
The role works closely with senior leaders and governance forums to ensure portfolio-wide processes, reporting and documentation are accurate, consistent and support informed decision-making.
This position plays a key role in maintaining portfolio frameworks, coordinating governance papers and supporting executive committees overseeing strategic and operational rail outcomes across Queensland.

The Principal Advisor (Portfolio Controls Specialist) supports the effective governance and delivery of Queensland's rail portfolio by maintaining portfolio-wide processes, reporting and documentation standards. Working closely with senior leaders and governance forums, the role coordinates high-quality governance papers, reporting and communications to support informed decision-making across strategic and operational rail investment programs.

In this role you will:
• Maintain and update the DPMO macro process and associated documentation to support rail portfolio prioritisation and sequencing.
• Prepare, coordinate and quality assure governance documentation, including Approval in Principle notices, governance papers and formal portfolio correspondence.
• Provide secretariat and reporting support to portfolio governance groups and executive committees overseeing the delivery of strategic and operational rail outcomes.
• Liaise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver timely, accurate and high-quality reporting to governance bodies.
• Ensure consistency, accuracy and presentation quality of portfolio documentation under tight timeframes.
• Develop and distribute portfolio-wide communications to support alignment and transparency across stakeholder groups.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of portfolio processes, frameworks and reporting practices while maintaining compliance with established governance requirements.

Role Requirements
• Experience in developing major rail planning business cases and projects, in accordance with Queensland Government project assessment frameworks.
• Experience working with rail freight stakeholders, and an understanding of the industry's key operational challenges and opportunities.
• Qualifications in one or more of the following: Transport Planning, Engineering, Construction, Program Management, Business or Public Sector Administration.
• Experience with Public Sector rail infrastructure planning, management and leadership of rail programs in a large complex organisation, including all aspects of the business of commercial infrastructure delivery and asset management.
