As a Fisheries Officer - Recruit with the Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol (QBFP), you will play an important role in protecting Queensland's fisheries resources and supporting safe, sustainable use of our waterways. Working as part of a close-knit team, you will assist in compliance, education and community engagement activities across diverse and remote environments. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same, offering the opportunity to build practical skills while contributing to outcomes that matter to communities and the environment.

In this role, you will:
• Assist Authorised Officers with compliance activities including surveillance, inspections and investigations relating to fisheries, fisheries habitat and marine safety legislation.
• Support delivery of education and extension services to fishers, small craft users and the broader community to promote responsible and sustainable practices.
• Build your knowledge of fisheries and maritime legislation while engaging with stakeholders and contributing to positive compliance outcomes.
• Complete training and develop relevant knowledge, skills and abilities to support appointment as a Fisheries Officer.

What we are looking for (qualifications, registrations, experience)
This is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identified role. Applications will only be considered from Aboriginal people and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

We welcome applicants at both entry (TO1) and qualified (TO2) levels. At the TO1 level, no formal qualification is required - we are looking for motivated individuals with an interest in fisheries, boating safety or compliance who are eager to learn on the job.

To be appointed at the TO2 level, you will hold a relevant diploma or higher qualification (such as Justice Studies, Government Investigations, Policing, Fisheries Compliance or a related field).

You will also:
•Have possession of a current manual Motor Vehicle Driver's License (Class “C” open).
•Hold a, or ability to obtain prior to appointment a Recreational Marine Drivers Licence (RMDL) or equivalent (holders of a Coxswains or higher commercial marine certificate do not require a RMDL).
